Risk

Tired of hearing about the 9th Ward in New Orleans? Just wait until the “big” one hits San Francisco. And it will. Latest estimates 150 billion in damage.
Why do the taxpayers in America have to pay for people’s damage that build on a fault line or under the level of surrounding lakes and rivers. Likewise paying for people’s damage that build on waterfronts over and over.
Did you homeowners insurance go up this year? Do you have a waterfront property? Maybe not but you are paying for a percentage of the insurance. Having fun yet?
I feel that people that live in places where they have no control over weather damage, such as tornados, should receive some help. Tornados hit everywhere. You cannot hide from them.
You do not have to build where you know being hit by storms or earthquakes will happen.
An answer? Really do not have one other than limit the amount of recovery one can obtain and that should be in the form of loans, not gifts of taxpayer money. Make people that build in harms way pay the actual amount needed by the insurance company to cover the risk.
May not the final answer but certainly is a start. Like that will ever happen.

You need to be in DC. What about gas prices? I don't see anybody slowing down on driving in Tn. I guess it will take $5.00 gas to get people to take the train to Nashville, I forgot they tore up the rails. GREAT PLANNING on the gov part.
