Taxes

Pat is driving and we are traveling south in South Carolina so I thought I would express my thoughts on taxes. I am going to try to list all of the taxes we pay. Not in any order but just noting them.

Federal income tax, state income tax, city income tax (in some places), property taxes, personal property taxes, state/local sales taxes, special taxes levied on telephone, cable (some go back to world war 1), extra taxes on rental cars, hotels, campground, many types of entertainment and gasoline/fuel tax. Also remember if any of you are retired you now are paying taxes on your investments, SS, retirement pensions. Quite a number of these are double dipping.

Are you satisfied with paying about 50% of your income in taxes? Do you receive goods and services in line with your “investment” of taxes? Roads in good shape, schools doing the job they are suppose to do (I mean educate, not baby sit), local police protection, good court systems? I could go on and on with this but all of the above should be addressed by each person. After all, everyone pretty much pays this out.

Have you addressed any of this with your county officials, city officials, state officials or federal officials? If not, why not? It’s way pass time everyone stands up and raises hell where and when it should be raised. Not bragging but stating a fact Pat and I do. I must admit Pat is better than I am about this. We attend meetings, write the local papers, and contact our congresswoman and senators. I also send messages to the President but think nothing will do any good there. I just withhold any funds to help them out. We do however contribute to some that we agree is looking after this country. Simply said: To protect and preserve the Constitution of the United States.

Think about it!
