The Real 666 or maybe 664

I am up early and watching the military channel’s tribute to June 6, 1944 otherwise known as D-Day.

It’s an attempt to tell the story from the men’s, really young boys, view of the invasion. It is a very moving story and really reminds me of why they were called the Greatest Generation.

One of the things it points out and I did remember that the French resistance really went full out to raise hell behind the German lines. That action that day and all of the other acts performed against the Germans by the French resistance was done by very brave French men and women. I would and must assume they; those still alive of course, are ashamed of their country’s lack of courage in these trying days.

I am rambling and need to put a period on this. My best effort would be that everyone in the free world needs to think all of the men of the armies that hit the beach that morning of June 6, 1944. In addition never, never forget the Marine and Army troops that were island hopping in the Pacific heading toward victory against Japan.

All of this leads up to today. The road ran through Korea, Vietnam, various short and bloody actions, the first Gulf war and now the fight in Iraq. Americans and troops from other free countries have laid it on the line for a long time. I guess it’s just to early to write this as I am sure the reader thinks I am crazy. So let me end this diatribe by just saying Thank You to all of the people that have laid it on the line for people like me that never has had to do.

Thank You!
