Ignoring The News
Heard a brief part of the Rush Limbaugh radio while driving and he said something that I have long felt to be true. What’s that you ask? Just this, do not listen to the national news or read the newspaper for a few days. Try it for say a week.We have done just that by default as we travel. Sure we have looked at some news but mostly for the weather and since we have been on an organized tour and then visited family for the past three weeks I can tell you, in my opinion, you do see the world differently.
Some of the “the sky is falling” attitude offered by the national newspapers and TV networks mellows. All you are exposed to is what you see. You see people going to work, school and taking care of home and hearth without thinking the world is coming to an end. Talking with strangers around the country I have not gotten the feeling that everything is going to hell. Yes, I have seen the “housing bubble” deflating in all of the areas we have visited but I strongly suspect it needed to cool off. Sorry about some of the people that have perhaps lost their jobs but that also has not seemed to be the truth. What appears to be the truth now is the subcontractors just may have enough people to complete their projects on schedule.
So what does all this mean? Maybe not much but it does point out that if one is saturated by bad news then you more than likely will form opinions that reflect that feeling. So therefore it stands to reason that if you can be moved to that negative point of view then anyone that is currently running contrary to what you now believe you just may cast your vote for them. Wow, does that mean the left leaning; liberal media is trying to have an effect on the elections? Make up your own mind, I have made my up.
