I am just wondering?
I read news stories, a lot of them, lately and the theme is "the country is going to hell". Really? Unemployment is low, wages have increased, you are paying less tax than you did under the wonderful Clinton administration, your home is certainly worth more than you ever thought it would be and the stock market is surging. OK, Iraq is not going as well as everyone thought or at least expected it would. I guess in the long run it would have been better to leave Saddam in power and let him continue to kill his people like he was doing. They are managing to kill themselves without him. At least his was organized and did no property damage, just a knock on the door at midnight and your ass was gone, period.SO THAT MUST BE THE PROBLEM. EVERYONE IS UPSET BECAUSE WE ATTACKED SADDAM AND THE WAR DID NOT END IN ONE HOUR, NOT COUNTING COMMERICALS.
6000 United States Marines were killed in a month taking Iwo Jima during WWII. Was it worth it? I guess not to the guys that were killed and to their families but it certainly was to the thousands of airmen that landed there coming back from bombing Japan with a shot up airplane, therefore saving their lives, and certainly helping to shorten the war. I guess we as a country have forgotten that sacrifice is sometimes needed to win in the long run. We have forgotten how to do that I would guess.
I wonder just what people think is worth fighting for. A new big screen color hi-def TV? Yeah, that's it. Must be don't you think. Certainly freedom sure as hell ain't worth it.
By the way, for anyone out there that hates Bush for going into Iraq, just remember Germany NEVER, NEVER, NEVER attacked the United States but old FDR just had to get into the war because that was the only thing that brought the depression under control. Nothing like a good war to get the money flowing again. Don't believe me, do your own research and then make up your mind. Was it wrong to fight and eliminate Hitler? No, of course not, but does anyone see a parallel in the world today? We have people that want to kill every man, woman and child in this county and we are sitting around with our thumbs up our butts worrying about the price of gasoline.
I have given up; we are on a downhill run to a third world country.
