Posting?
Was reminded that I have not posted since Christmas. Guess the death of James Brown and President Ford was just to much to absorb. No really, their deaths made me think a lot.My generation grew up with James Brown. At first his music was not accepted by "white folks". Being a teenager that made it even more cool. Yeah, he had his problems with drugs, waving guns around and beating up his wifes but he made some good tunes. Well, I guess it's up to him now as he has to face the Big Guy in the Sky.
Living through the Nixon era, which lead to Ford, was like being on a roller coaster. You were up and down with the guy but it seemed hanging on was the best thing for the moment. Being selfish, the thing that stands out the most was Nixon's Price and Wage control. Bastard caused me not to get a raise for nearly two years. But on the other side, I quit the company I was working for at the time and went to work with the company I retired from. That was quite a ride and only lead to good things for my family. So in the end it all worked out. So, back to President Ford. I agree he was a good man and his pardoning of Nixon certainly lead to his defeat by, shiver shiver, Jimmy Carter. Shame because I have always felt that Ford should have been given a chance to see what he could really do. Maybe nothing but we will never know. I guess the biggest thing he really gave us was Jimmy Carter and I will never forgive him for that.
I guess this post was a waste of time for anyone that did not live through my era. Growing up in the 50's has to have been the greatest time anyone could ever have. After all, in 1955 Chevrolet introduced the small block V8. That alone was enough to live for. As you can see I am rambling but thinking about a lot of things. My 50th high school reunion is this summer. My wife is on my case for going but for now I don't know. Last time I went all the people there were old and I did not recognize them. Maybe this time they will be younger and familiar.
