Ask Marilyn
My wife ran across an old column by Marilyn Vos Savant. Should you not know who she is allow me to tell you. She is a very smart person, in fact has one of the highest know IQ in the states. But she also has a ton of common sense. I will try to shorten it, as the column is quite long.A person asked her if our government is already bankrupt or if we stand a chance of getting out of debt. Her answer was short and sweet. “Given the political realities of the situation, I don’t see a way out without broad-based changes in our way of social thinking”. She addressed how we usually spend our money and then how our elected representatives spend our money. Remember, the government DOES NOT CREATE WEALTH. Her bottom line answer was if you had the chance of spending everyone’s money without regard to worrying about the cost then you have what the government does in and a massive way, every single day.
Please get involved with your local, state and federal elected officials. Let them know they work for us and serve at our pleasure. Yes, money has to be spent but spend in a responsible manner.
By the way as a closing shot, since I have always thought like her column states so does that make me a genius?
