Iwo To?
Japan has chosen to change the name of Iwo Jima to Iwo To. By the way, both words mean "island" so I guess the name of the island is know Island Island. I am putting some information regarding the battle below. Truly I would not want any of this to be repeated but this is what it took to secure the island so our shot up or disabled airplanes returning from bombing Japan to land and be saved. That is what the USMC gave in life's to secure the island. The information below shows how hard it is to take positions from an army that was really dug in for defensive purposes. What the fuck would people today say about this? Certainly today's democrats would scream for defeat of our forces. I am truly sorry when I say this but I really hate some of the bastards and bitches in congress.God Bless our troops and watch over them.
Iwo Jima was officially taken on March 26, 1945 after 31-day battle that pitted some 100,000 U.S. troops against 21,200 Japanese. All told, 6,821 Americans were killed and nearly 22,000 injured — the highest percentage of casualties in any Pacific battle.
Only 1,033 Japanese survived.
